Bellini Crib
I promised last ethics (Hett) to speak to a crib donated to the Community of the Sacred Heart, the work of sculptor Paolo Bellini. It is a Holy Family-size, iron, currently on display in "Path Nativity," which closes Sunday, January 30 with the award ceremony organized by People's Daily (15.30 and 16.00 as published in the latest ethics (Hett) a). Not that I want back on cribs, but I would like to say a few words on another subject, the art in the church. And when I say art, I mean not only talking about architecture, sculpture and painting, but also to other arts of which mention in conclusion. When I was young, still existed in the field of sacred canons obsolete, churches built in the pre Vatican II models are modeled rather old. One of the few exceptions was the Sacred Heart Church in Bellinzona, in which, the young architect Rino Tami, while according to the rules of Franciscan simplicity, wanted to give a twist. In the field of painting he copied-cards depicting romantic devotion. Who was mocked tried different paths, see Guido Gonzato. The sacred sculpture was neglected for fear of ostracism ecclesiastical, as happened to a crucifix Remo Rossi, who was expelled from a church put on a grave. Today, not to mention other artists, just remember Mario Botta's architecture, in painting (especially for windows) Fra Roberto, for the sculpture cited by Paolo Bellini. Even the music has moved forward, even if a serious modern sacred music (see Stravinsky) that we do not have broad citizenship.
