In the town where I live for years on the slopes of Mount Amiata, for Christmas Eve there is a tradition of torches, that large piles of wood that are prepared, a few days before, in different parts of the country with the participation of all. The lighting ceremony of the torches opened at 18.00 on December 24, opposite the town hall, with the blessing of the fire. The band plays Christmas carols in front of City Hall and the torch is lit, this is the agreed signal, hence the heads with their torch to be lit torches to set fire to the other torches scattered in the center and around the country. At 21:00 the pipers and all people, including tourists, starting the pilgrimage, ranging from one to another torch singing Christmas carols in the streets there are banquets, there is some cellar and open meetings play with the offer of wine and desserts. We live a magical Christmas atmosphere in a medieval illuminated day and expects to go to midnight mass!
