Let me start this Etic (Hett) to a question to my loyal readers: do you think that this Christmas we will be celebrating again in a climate of economic downturn, will decrease purchases and gifts?
Retailers obviously do not wish for this decrease. Buyers, perhaps, be more careful in spending. Personally, I do not care much to buy, I would not diminish the gifts.
But this is to give this word the broadest sense possible. It is not only the gift amount that the adolescent expect from grandparents to increase his pocket money in December. Not only is this loving gift that girlfriends and wives receive from their men (and vice versa).
There are many other types of gifts, so it I point out a few: I think the main gift is the "per-gift."
for Christmas - a celebration of peace to men of good will - if we were in the quadrant care, or even family, rust, as a gift more beautiful and more valuable - but also more difficult - if not that of a personal approach to engage peace negotiations to fruition with the will of a mutual pardon?
Other precious gifts: the renew relationships with friends for a long time neglected, visit the lonely and abandoned promising (and keeping) that the visit will be repeated a few times a year and not only carried out for the holidays.
Finally there are the gifts that any person can (and should) provide for itself.
Who lives in the hectic work to enjoy a day of silence and solitude, might not be a gift?
Who swims in materialism can not be a nice gift to a moment of spirituality?
All this is possible for those who believe that the tradition of Christmas gifts on Christmas comes from the basic fact that God gave to the world the gift of His only Son in the person of Jesus of Nazareth.
But even for those who do not believe the birth of Jesus is not perhaps a great gift, Him being a "great humanity"?
